Investigation of Despair Levels, Social Support Levels Given in The Treatment Process of SMA Families and The Examination of Family's Attitudes in The Nutrition Process

Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to examine the despair levels of the SMA families in the treatment process, the social support levels given and the mother's attitudes in the nutrition process. The universe of the research is the SMA families living in Turkey. The sample of the study consists of families of 252 SMA patients selected by the purposeful sampling method. In the study, the social support scale, despair scale and nutrition process tonutrition process were used to collect data . The research was conducted with the relational screening model. In the finding of the research, positive and significant relationships were determined between the reacts to the appearance of others, the emotions related to the future, the loss of motivation, the levels of hope and despair, and the attitudes related to insufficient insufficient nutrition, negative nutrition strategies, forced nutrition and nutritional processes. Accordingly, as the despair levels increase, the level of nutritional processes increases. It is recommended that studies on SMA families be carried out on different variables and large samples.
