Abstract

In recent years, as in many sectors, it has been observed that the number of female employees has started to increase in business lines that require intense strength and are dominated by men. This situation brings about the process of managing significant differences between male and female employees. One of the problems that need to be managed in these processes is gender discrimination. In this respect, it becomes necessary to investigate the dimensions of discrimination on a sectoral basis. The purpose of this study is to investigate the existence and extent of gender discrimination experiences of young female chefs studying at university during their internship and work periods. In order to achieve this aim, the data obtained from six female students were subjected to content analysis in the research designed in a phenomenological pattern. The findings of the research reveal that young female chefs are exposed to situations of gender discrimination. As a result of the study, academic and industry recommendations were developed to prevent sexist discrimination.
