A Cosmic-Horror Reading from a Posthumanist Perspective: A Review on the Annihilation Movie
Main Article Content
Abstract
The discourses created by critical posthuminism offer a structure that is suitable to be read through current events and facts. At this point, the art of cinema is gaining importance. So much so that films play an important role in reflecting the current events and facts of the period in which they were made. The main purpose of this study is to demonstrate that as a sci-fi subtype of horror, Cosmic-Horror's imaginations for current events and the future can be subjected to analysis from the framework of posthümanist theory. Based on this purpose, the film Annihilation, which exemplifies Cosmic-Horror cinema in the study, shows how human expectations are established with a cinematic narrative towards the posthumanization of human expectations in the future by subjecting them to qualitative film analysis through critical posthumanist discourses.
