Turkish Version of the Playful Work Design Scale: Validity and Reliability Study
Main Article Content
Abstract
The objective of this study is to adapt the playful work design scale, as developed by Scharp et al. (2019), into Turkish. The concept of playful work design is a relatively novel one within the field of work design. It is based on the concept of play. The concept under examination is the employee's proactive approach to incorporating elements of play into work activities, without altering the fundamental nature of the work itself. This is done with the aim of making work activities enjoyable for all parties involved, or of designing their work in a more engaging and enjoyable manner through the use of competition. The research was conducted using data obtained from 422 individuals employed in the public or private sectors in Şırnak province. The data were then coded for use in the SPSS and AMOS programs. Following exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, it was determined that the scale has a two-dimensional structure, with the original structure of designing fun and designing competition being confirmed. It was thus established that the scale can be used to determine the level of playful work design of employees in business life in Turkey.
