A Contemporary Perspective on Middle School Students' Self-Efficacy

Abstract

This article focuses on the self-efficacy of middle school students. Self-efficacy refers to individuals' beliefs about their own abilities and the impact of this belief on their behavior. Selfefficacy includes confidence in accomplishing a task and solving problems. Self-efficacy is an important factor, especially influencing academic achievement, motivation and emotional responses. Students' academic self-efficacy levels, willingness to put in the effort, use of learning strategies, and can affect their achievement. In this study, 19 research publications in the Google Scholar database were scanned. With the content analysis, it was observed that the self-efficacy levels of secondary school students were proportionally low. While creating education plans for the future, the factors affecting students' self-efficacy should be examined in detail and the effects of these factors on student success should be investigated.
