Abstract

In this study, the health relationship of avocado, which is a functional food, and avocado consumption habits in different cultures were tried to be explained. Especially in the national literature, the scarcity of academic information about avocados draws aiention. The research text created in this context was wriien using the compilation technique, one of the qualitative research methods. Avocado fruit is rich in faiy acids, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. The fruit is produced and sold directly for human consumption. The avocado trade has developed significantly in recent times. Avocado consumption habits differ in the world. However, avocados are generally consumed raw. The fruit can be used as an alternative to red meat for vegans and vegetarians. Avocado is not included in traditional Turkish cuisine, but its production and consumption has started to increase in the Mediterranean basin recently. In this context, it is predicted that avocado production and consumption will increase in Turkey.
