Abstract

Cancer is a life-threatening chronic disease that causes hopelessness, pain, or fear of death. It is one of the most important health problems of our age due to its increasing prevalence and high mortality rates. Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women. Psychological difficulties, traumatic experience and the possibility of psychiatric disorders are common in breast cancer patients who have undergone both chemotherapy treatment and mastectomy. Research shows that coping strategies can affect treatment outcomes and survival rates for women with breast cancer. While the disease causes the individual's life balance to be shaken, it also reveals the necessity of establishing a life balance in which she can adapt to the disease in order to continue his life in a healthy way. The use of appropriate coping strategies, how the cancer disease is perceived and the support needed from appropriate sources have a significant impact on the cancer treatment process and the adaptation process after it, as well as on the formation of post-traumatic growth. In this study, these concepts will be presented within the framework of the literature and discussed over a case.
