Abstract
In this study, it is aimed to investigate the relationship between early maladaptive schemas and depressive symptoms and self-compassion. In the study, Socio-Demographic Information Form, Young Schema Scale Short Form-3, Beck Depression Scale and Self compassion Scale were used. 69.9% of the 365 university students participating in the research are women and 30.1% are men. In addition, 66% of the participants are 1st grade students. A significant and negative correlation was found with depressive symptoms and self-compassion total score and dimensions of selfkindness, self-judgment, common humanity, isolation, mindfulness, over-identification total score of depressive symptoms. Depressive symptoms and early maladaptive schemes and abandonment/instability, mistrust/abuse, emotional deprivation, defectiveness/shame, social isolation/alienation, dependence/incompetence, vulnerability to harm or illness, enmeshment/undeveloped self, failure, entitlement/grandiosity and insufficient self-control, subjugation, self-sacrifice, and approval seeking, negativity/pessimism, emotional inhibition, unrelenting standards, and punitivenes.
