Evaluating Emphatic Tendency Level of Teachers Graduated from Faculties of Education Towards Their Colleagues Having Pedagogical Formation

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the level of empathic tendency of teachers who aregraduates of faculty of education towards their colleagues who are teachers with formation. Inthis study, the research universe consists of teachers from various branches working in Istanbul.In this context, the research sample was composed of 120 teachers using Simple RandomSampling method. The study did not include those with disabilities and non-volunteers toprevent the interview. The study was designed and realized in descriptive scanning model.Empathic Tendency Scale was applied to determine the empathic tendency levels of theparticipants, and the Personal Information Form, which was created by the researcher, was usedto obtain information on demographic characteristics. The findings were evaluated and discussedwithin the framework of descriptive statistics in SPSS program. According to the results obtainedin the study, it was seen that the older participants had higher scores than the empathic tendencyscale in terms of age variable. At the same time, it has been found that the teachers who havebeen active in the profession for a long time have higher scores of empathic tendency scale.
