Abstract

The works depicting a person's facial expression are called "portrait". Portraits that include the
chest, waist and body part up to the knee are the result of the artist's or model's preference. When the artist portraits, he captures the essence by reflecting the character and mood of the person along with his appearance. Portrait; It preserves its place in one of the branches of art such as painting, sculpture and photography in different colors and different forms and techniques. Selfportrait consists of an artist drawing his own portrait. While the artist makes his own portrait,
besides his characteristic features, he reflects his mood and even attributes different meanings to
himself. Portrait or self-portrait actually reminds of the fine line between life and death. The aim
here is maybe to provide permanence, maybe to shed light on the past. If it brings to life the
process of life and death, it takes the viewer to the past, introduces that period, enables them to
connect and makes the viewer even dream. We can share the effects of a person's life on himself
or even his experiences. The portrait is a historical document that has an adventure that extends
from cave walls to the earth, from coffins to wooden panels, from papers to canvases and to
today's technology and digital environment.
