Main Article Content
Abstract
In this study, two master inscriptions identified by us in Niğde Alaeddin Mosque, along with another previously read master inscription, will be introduced and analyzed. On November 9, 2024, during a city tour in Niğde with our fellow writers and researchers, we visited the Alaeddin Mosque. As a result of our detailed examination of almost every part of the mosque, we noticed some inscriptions on two of the mosque’s domes. This led us to initiate a study to determine what these inscriptions might be. Through our research, we discovered several new architectural inscriptions. In this study, we seek to answer questions such as: How many master inscriptions are there in the mosque? Why do these inscriptions feature different architect names? And why are they located in different parts of the structure? With our newly discovered two master inscriptions and the re-examination of the previously read inscription, we aim to document and contribute them to the academic literature.
