Main Article Content
Abstract
This study presents a content analysis of studies emphasizing green maritime in postgraduate theses written on green economy in Turkey between 2000 and 2024. Document analysis method was used in the research. Accordingly, the years, writing language, research topics, methodologies and sampling methods of the postgraduate theses, which were accessed through the database of the National Thesis Center of the Council of Higher Education, were examined. The theses subject to the research were analyzed in detail according to their master's and doctoral levels, the universities where they were prepared, related institutes, departments, thesis conclusions and recommendations, and the titles of the advisors. In this context, the study aims to reveal the current state of the literature and the general outlook of the field with a special emphasis on green maritime in academic studies on green economy in Turkey. As research findings, it has been observed that there are 58 postgraduate studies on green economy and 5 of these studies are at the doctoral level. Among the 58 studies, it was observed that 10 studies emphasized green maritime, but there were no doctoral level studies among these studies. It is revealed that master's theses emphasizing green maritime are generally accepted in the institutes of postgraduate education and institutes of science, prepared in the department of marine sciences and the department of environmental engineering, and that qualitative research methods are mostly used, although methodological diversity is low. In addition, it was determined that thesis advisors were mostly female academics with the title of professor doctor, and the majority of the authors were female researchers. It is predicted that the results of the study will be useful in improving the methodological and sampling diversity of theses to be prepared in the field of green economy, sustainable marine environmental management and marine sciences; green maritime, green port, green maritime transportation, etc., will encourage new research on green maritime and therefore contribute to the scientific field.
