Value Transfer Through Films in Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language: Ayla Film Example

Abstract

Values are a set of behaviors that are accepted by society as correct and beautiful. In today's world, where there is a new technological development every day, values are transferred through devices such as radio, television, computers and virtual networks such as the Internet. National channels, cinemas, virtual platforms are mass communication places where movies meet people and interaction takes place. Movies deeply affect people, create fashion, and cause the transfer and even change of social values. One of the activities that is used in teaching Turkish as a foreign language is the activity of transferring values through movies. In this study, the activity of transferring values through movies was applied to 21 volunteer students at B2 level who are learning Turkish as a foreign language. Case study method, which is one of the qualitative research approaches, was used in the research. In order to collect student opinions, a semi-structured interview form was created as a data collection tool; In the analysis of the qualified data obtained, descriptive analysis and content analysis methods were applied. According to the results obtained from the students' opinions, an attempt was made to evaluate the role of films in value transfer.
