Abstract

The research was conducted using a relational screening method to examine the relationship between smoking addiction and levels of inattention and perception disorders. Data were collected using the Personal Information Form, the Psychological Dependency on Smoking Scale, the Adult Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Self-Report Scale, and the Benton Facial Recognition Test. The researcher completed the Benton Visual Memory Test training with serial number 997654323405. The study was conducted with 432 men (43.2%) and 568 women (56.8%), including 500 smokers and 500 non-smokers, using a stratified random sampling method with volunteer participants. The distribution of socio-demographic variables between smokers and non-smokers was examined, and the relationship between visual perception and attention deficit levels in smokers was evaluated through Pearson correlation analysis. SPSS 26.0 software was used for the analyses. Due to the sample size, parametric measures were used; independent sample t-tests and chi-square tests were applied. Normality tests were conducted to ensure the suitability of the comparison and correlation tests, and skewness and kurtosis values of the scale scores were evaluated. The significance level was set at 0.05.
