Ethnicity Dynamics: Diversity, Change and Theoretical Perspective

Abstract

The focus of this study is the concept of ethnicity. Ethnicity is a phenomenon that is discussed and researched in social sciences. Especially when the historical development of the concept is considered, it will be seen that different social categories and formations have emerged. In the study, it was explained that ethnicity is expressed with a number of biological, physiological, social, cultural and linguistic components. The different definitions and approaches to ethnicity are due to the fact that ethnicity is a central concept at the social level. Throughout the study, it is aimed to classify the theories of ethnicity by focusing on the definition and components of the concept of ethnicity.
