Students’ Alternative and Traditional Medicine to Determine Related Attitudes and Behaviours A Quantitative Research On

Abstract
With this research, by measuring the attitudes and behaviors of Sivas Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences students towards traditional, alternative and complementary medicine, it was tried to determine their interest in these methods and their orientation towards traditional medicine in the field of health they will be members of in the future. This study was conducted between 15 April and 01 December 2023 with 417 students studying at Sivas Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, who participated in the research voluntarily. A 27-question CACMAS (Complementary, Alternative and Traditional Medicine Attitude Scale) questions and a 15- question demographic characteristics survey form were prepared for the students, and the survey method was applied face to face. 69.3% of the students participating in the study were female and 30.7% were male. The number of students between the ages of 17-22 constitutes the highest proportion of participants with a rate of 82%. 51.6% of the participants are students of the Faculty of Health Sciences, 34.5% are students of the Faculty of Medicine, and 13.9% are students of the Faculty of Dentistry. In the study, it was concluded that the factors of gender, marital status, father's education level and where the family lives did not have any effect on the attitudes and behaviors of Sivas Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry and Faculty of Health Sciences students towards traditional, alternative and complementary treatment methods. It was concluded that chronic illness, mother's education level, the region where the family lives, source of income, student's place of residence, income level, grade, social security, family type and age factors have an impact on students' attitudes and behaviors towards traditional, alternative and complementary treatment methods.
