Abstract

This study aims to sociologically analyze the spiritual searches of individuals escaping from the
stresses of modern life and to examine the connections of these searches with New Age
movements. In addition, it aims to reveal the interaction of transformation and change
experienced by individuals with society within the framework of symbolic interactionism theory.
In the Quest series, which was analyzed using the descriptive research model and symbolic
interactionism theory, the anxieties of modern life and the direction of individuals to spiritual
quests are discussed. New Age movements play an important role in these pursuits. The Quest
series reveals the spiritual transformation and change processes of individuals in the form of a
secular sect, and this transformation and change also plays an important role in the interaction
with society. The main theme of the series is the search for escape from the unhappiness and
meaninglessness that modern life brings. The Quest series critically examines the popularization
of spiritual quests and New Age beliefs in modern society. In the literature, no academic study
has been found on the social context of New Age movements, specifically the Quest series, and
this study will contribute to the literature by presenting a sociological analysis of the concepts of
New Age and spiritual quest.
