Abstract
Crime, which has an important impact on the shaping of societies, has existed in all societies from past to present. Although crime has legal, political, psychological and social importance, it has an extremely complex structure. The increase in the rate of change in today's world has brought many problems and changed the types and rates of crime. While this change has increased the fear of being exposed to crime in individuals, it has also caused the sense of trust to be damaged and to live in an atmosphere of constant fear. In this respect, fear of crime has recently become as important as crime for both individuals and societies. For all these reasons, in this study, the importance of fear of crime will be emphasised and a theoretical background will be created through studies in the literature. In the light of this information, a sociological perspective on the subject will be tried to be created by evaluating the semi-structured interview data conducted in Van province. It is expected that the data to be revealed about individuals' fear of crime, fear of crime and fear of being exposed to crime, provided that it is limited to the interview data, will constitute an important source for those concerned and improvements will be made based on this.
