Abstract

In the phase where uncertainty and unpredictability exist in every area, everything takes a fluid form and Bauma defines it as fluid modernity, at this stage, migration, as an important social phenomenon, leaves shocking traces in the lives of individuals and societies. The phenomenon of migration in Bauman's sociology is discussed with these assumptions. The aim of this study is to show how the phenomenon of migration, which is accepted as a common problem for all societies in today's world, is handled and evaluated in Bauman's sociology. Evaluating and understanding the phenomenon of migration, which is multidimensional, timeless and spaceless, with its causes and consequences, with different approaches is important in solving and managing the problem. It is seen that Bauman's determinations and discussions on the phenomenon of migration are carried out with a very deep, multidimensional and critical understanding. Today, fluidity comes into existence with unpredictability, transience, lack of belonging, place lessness and insecurity, and migration takes its share from all these. In Bauman's sociology, the analysis of the phenomenon of migration, mostly specific to refugees, is shaped in the light of hopeful discourses rather than pessimism with a comprehensive sociological perspective. In this direction, in this study, the phenomenon of increasing immigration in the current period is evaluated with the arguments available in Bauman's sociology.
