The Impact of Optimism and Resistance to Change on the Ability to Adapt to Industry 4.0

Abstract

With this study, it is aimed to examine whether resistance to change and optimism have an effect on the ability to adapt to Industry 4.0. A four (4) part questionnaire was planned for the research. The questionnaire form, the first part of which consists of demographic (personal) information, included optimism scale, resistance to change scale, potential to adapt to industry 4.0 scale. Higher education students studying at Artvin Çoruh University's Arhavi and Hopa campus in the 2021/2022 academic year were selected as the universe and sample. According to the findings, it was seen that the highest and most significant relationship was between the sub-dimensions of the ability to adapt to Industry 4.0 and being interested in Industry 4.0 and Adapting to Industry 4.0. At the same time, it has been determined that there are positive and significant relationships between optimism and being interested in Industry 4.0 and being ready for Industry 4.0. Another result; It has been determined that there is a negative and significant relationship between resistance to change and being interested in Industry 4.0 and Adapting to Industry 4.0. At the end of the study, some suggestions were made for employees and managers.
