Evaluation of the Coronavirus Epidemic in Terms of Mass Effect Level Trauma

Abstract

The concept of trauma, it is used to name all kinds of lived events that shake and injure the physical and spiritual beings of individuals in various ways. Traumatic events with a mass effect level and the traumatic event experienced by an individual can be different. Traumatic events with mass effects, can affect one or more countries. To sum up, the consequences of traumatic events with massive impact may emerge as a mental problem between generations. Traumatic events pose a problem not only for an individual but also for large societies. For example, extraordinary situations, armed conflicts, epidemics and terrorism can disrupt the public health infrastructure, social fabric and systems that are most needed after trauma. And also, who experienced traumatic events with mass effect can have post-traumatic stress disorder, dissociative disorders, anxiety disorders, alcohol and substance use disorder or addiction, etc. The aim of this study is to evaluate the traumatic features of the Coronavirus pandemic within the context of traumas with mass impact, to present the psychological consequences brought about by the pandemic through scanning scientific studies, and to compare these results with the outcomes of past traumatic events with mass impact. Thus, the goal is to provide recommendations for taking measures to mitigate the negative consequences of traumas with mass impact in order to preserve individual and societal mental health.
