Abstract

Western art was totally transformed especially in terms of material and concepts after 1960s. Works of Greek artists trying find some place in the winds of this transformation became more prominent with the arrival of new texts written. Our research subject Syni Anastasiadi is one of the artists that attracted attention after these developments. Born on 1947 in Aleksandropolis, S. Anastasiadi started her pioneering work in Thessaloniki. Later she was trained in local and independent art studios in Greece and studied in Wien. Her works were exhibited in various countries. She also found a place to himself in our country’s art agenda with the plate of honor her received in 2015 (Pinelo Gallery / Istanbul) and her exhibition opened in 2019 (in Alexandropoulos / Greece) with the name “All Is A Dream ...”. Following text gives the presentation of findings obtained in the research that focuses on biography and plastic art (production) of S. Anastasiadi. First part of the findings is made up of background information acquired with a literate scan. Second part elucidates recent works of S. Anastasiadi and gives a summary of layers of meaning springing forth from these works and emphasizes the value to be discovered in his actual exhibition (2019). And finally, a general evaluation is given in the conclusion. In this evaluation, artist’s current position in Greek painting is examined and beneficial effect of his individual attempts for the future generations of Greeks is expressed. And recent cooperation between Greek and Turkish painters and sculptors in the region of Thrace and new “ground” created to feed cultural correlation is also emphasized.
