Gastronomy Museums and Features in Turkey

Abstract

Gastronomy continues to be a rising value all over the world. In addition to traveling for purposes such as doing sports, benefiting from the sea and the sun, seeing historical and natural beauties and health reasons, people also want to travel in order to get to know the culinary culture of the regions and to experience different tastes. At this point, gastronomic tourism comes into question. Gastronomy tourism enables individuals to taste different flavors on site. Gastronomic tourism is very important in terms of introducing culinary culture. In this regard, some regions have established gastronomy museums in order to introduce and exhibit their culinary cultures. Gastronomy museums undertake the mission of exhibiting and promoting the culinary culture of the region, prominent gastronomic products, food preparation and cooking methods. Some gastronomic museums can be thematic and focus on a single gastronomic product. In this way, tourists have the opportunity to examine in detail the cuisine of the region they visit. There are gastronomy museums in Turkey and the number of them is increasing day by day. In this study, gastronomy museums in Turkey and their features were researched, a detailed literature review was made on the subject and literature was created in the light of the obtained data.
