Abstract

A requirement that Covid 19 (Coronavirus) pandemic has revealed for cities is that urban settlements are no longer car-oriented and must be planned with more environmentalist, more sustainable and human-centered approaches. In this process, "walkable cities" as the model that made its name the most, and with it, some approaches that support walkability such as "15-minute cities", "smart growth", "new urbanism" and "transit-oriented development" came to the fore. The study aims to contribute to the "walkable cities" literature by bringing together these approaches that support and focus on walkability, although they have different names, and to create a theoretical basis for future studies in the creation of walkable cities. For this purpose, these approaches are evaluated in the study based on the literature with their features that support walkability. All these planning approaches have been much discussed in the urbanization and planning literatures, especially in the last 20 years, and the strategies they all adopt are common in many aspects.
