A Research on the Determination of Effective Factors on the Selection of Port Facility Location in Transportation Planning
Main Article Content
Abstract
Whether as a result of planned investment policies carried out by public administrations or unplanned industrial growth, ports have always created an economic attraction area and made important contributions to the development of national economies. Depending on the geographical location of the facility, the initial investment costs of the ports are quite high and it is not possible to move them to another location. For this reason, in order to use limited resources correctly, the selection of the port facility location should be done in a correct, sustainable and developable process. In this study, Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), which is one of the Multi- Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods, was used in the of the port facility location. The aim of the study is to determine the impact and importance of the factors affecting on the selection of port facility location. In the study, the weights of 3 main and 14 sub-criteria were determined and ranked their importance by AHP analysis. According to the findings, “Port Establishment Costs” under the “Costs” main criterion and “Proximity to Shipping Routes” under the “Geographical Location” main criterion are the most effective factors in the selection of the port facility location.
