Abstract
Nutrition shows changes and developments within the framework of people's social life, ethical principles, moral values and religious beliefs. Mainly developed to protect animal rights, vegetarianism has started to spread with the belief that plant nutrition will positively affect human health. Vegetarianism is mainly fed by herbal products; It is a diet in which fish, chicken and red meat are not consumed, milk and dairy products and eggs are consumed on demand. However, vegetarian diets have positive and negative health consequences for individuals, nutritional supplements are recommended in order to minimize negative traits. Vegetarian individuals; based on the idea of animal rights and health are not protected, by not only consuming meat, they also do not use animal by-products. Thus, the concept of veganism, which has its own species, has emerged, which is one of the important branches of vegetarianism. Considering the increasing vegan population in sectors such as tourism, health, clothing and food, only plant-based products are developed. In this review study; The emergence of vegetarianism and its sub-branches, the services provided to meet the demands of vegetarian individuals, and the health effects of vegetarian diets have been examined within the scope of scientific studies.
