Abstract

The objective of this study is to examine whether hypnotherapy has a significant effect on depression, anxiety, stress and life satisfaction scores in adults. 26 (19 female, 3 male) adult volunteers participated in the interviews, which were structured over five sessions. Before the interviews, the participants were given the Personal Information Form, the Depression-Anxiety-Stress Scale and the Satisfaction with Life Scale and were asked to fill it out. Interviews were held once a week, and each interview was one hour. In the fifth interview, the scales mentioned above were given to the participants again, and the comparison of the variable scores before and after the therapy was made. As a result of the pretest-posttest analysis, the depression, anxiety and stress scores of the individuals after the hypnotherapy session; was on decline compared to the scores before the hypnotherapy session. In addition, life satisfaction scores of individuals increased significantly after the hypnotherapy sessions. Based on the findings, it can be said that hypnotherapy is effective in reducing high depression, anxiety and stress scores in adults and increasing life satisfaction. Although it is thought that the findings will provide information for future studies; it is recommended to work with a larger participant group in the further studies.
