An Assessment from The Point of View of The Tourism Sector and Turkey in The Covid-19 Process

Abstract

Tourism sector is a dynamic sector which can be affected by external factors and crises easily. COVID-19 pandemic which started in 2019 and has influenced all world in a short time, has deeply affected tourism sector beside other many sectors. Since Turkey is a country which has high potential in terms of tourism, tourism sector of Turkey has been influenced by pandemic conditions negatively. Within the scope of this study, tourism sector in COVID-19 process is investigated, and how tourism sector of Turkey has been influenced by pandemic process is examined. In this descriptive study, both qualitative and quantitative data are used. In the conclusion of the study, the findings that tourism sector of Turkey has been affected by COVID-19 process significantly, and the number of tourists coming to Turkey from abroad and tourism revenue decreased in 2020 in comparison to the year of 2019, were reached.
