Social Media Factor in Recruitment Process: A Research on Aviation Sector

Abstract

Aviation industry is a developing and growing sector. Quick decision making is a very important factor for the aviation industry which employs more than 200.000 personnel in Turkey. This sector, which competes not only with its rivals but also with the time, has to be fast as well as meticulous in personal selection. Nowadays, along with the conventional recruitment methods various sectors employ people through media and career websites. Aviation industry should also keep up with the innovation and get the utmost benefit from these online channels. The aim of this research is to identify whether. Subject research, both relevant by evaluating the data obtained from the managers and candidates of the enterprises has been carried out. The first group of 135 people, consists of human resources personnel, former human resources personnel and the people graduated from the relevant departments of schools and have the potential to work in the sector. The second group consists of 215 participants. The result of the study in which the information has been collected through a questionnaire, revealed that companies have adapted to this new concept of recruiting via social media, as a large audience, and that healthier results will be achieved with the right content and information.
