The Motivation of Hospitality Business Employees: A Comparative Research on İstanbul and Batman

Abstract

Employee motivation is one of the important issues in the service sector. It is known that motivations are effective for the sector employees, who are in continuous dialogue with the customer, to satisfy the customer. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of motivation factors on the employees in the context of accommodation businesses. The research has examined comparatively which motivation factors affect the employees in the accommodation establishments that are selected in Istanbul and Batman provinces, certificated by Culture and Tourism Ministry. At the results of the study, the first five motivation factors are as follows; success, wages, promotion and development opportunities, appreciation and job security. It is also revealed that the perception of the motivation elements varies according to the provinces and it has also been revealed whether it varies according to the department, position and demographic factor through some statistical analysis.
